Children's Ministry

PURPOSE
The purpose of our children's ministry is to partner with parents in faithfully teaching God's Word to their children so that, by the work of the Holy Spirit, they might come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and be firmly rooted in the faith.

INFANT NURSERY
The Infant nursery ministers to the family by giving a safe and nurturing environment for newborns through children of age two. We desire to provide parents with the assurance their child is being well cared for so they can join in worship and teaching. This will give them the opportunity to grow in their walk with the Lord, which will set the tone for interacting with their child throughout the week.

Nursery care is provided during Sunday morning worship, Sunday School and Sunday evening services. There is a secure check-in and check-out procedure and a paging system that gives assurance the child is safe and the parent(s) can be reached if needed. If it appears the child is unable to stay in the nursery, there is a designated room where a parent may sit with the child and view the service.

CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School classes are offered for children two years old to sixth grade at 8:45.  At 11:15, a class for two and three year olds is offered for the entire service and for four year olds through first grade during the sermon.
Our scope and sequence incorporates both chronological and topical studies, and we use curriculum from Children Desiring God, CRC, and New Tribes.
We teach children about the Bible by introducing areas such as the timeline of the Bible, how the Old and New Testaments relate to one another, types of biblical literature, and principles of interpretation.  We encourage the age appropriate understanding of biblical/theological terms so that children might be prepared to participate in corporate worship.

AWANA
Awana is an international, Bible-based program that wants to see all children and youth throughout the world come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.  The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed" taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.
At NCBC, we offer Sparks (boys and girls in kindergarten - second grade), T&T for boys (third - sixth grade), and T&T for girls (third - sixth grade). Our clubs meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:15, and each week each club rotates through game time, handbook time, and a teaching time with a focus on Bible memorization.
