Winter/Spring 2025 Women’s Bible Study
When You Pray: A Study of Six Prayers in the Bible
What is prayer? Prayer is a conversation we have with God–our way of expressing praise, gratitude, thanksgiving and our neediness to Him.
John Piper said, “If I try to pray for people or events without having the Word in front of me guiding my prayers, then several negative things happen. One is that I tend to be very repetitive…I just pray the same things all the time. Another negative thing is that my mind tends to wander.”
Sometimes we feel stuck in our pursuit of prayer. Perhaps it becomes monotonous and repetitive, or there’s something we’ve prayed about for a long time and we don’t know how else to pray. We're not alone! Even the disciples of Jesus cried out, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1).
All women (18+) are invited to join us for an 8-week study through prayers of the bible. We will study the Lord’s Prayer as well as other examples of prayers such as thanksgiving, petition, lament, adoration, and intercession found throughout the Old and New Testaments.
If you are new to studying the Bible or have familiarity with the Scriptures, you will gain a deeper understanding of how the prayers of the Bible can inspire and refresh our prayer lives.
