The Christian life begins with and is nourished by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Knowledge of and trust in the gospel lead to gospel-shaped beliefs and behaviors (Col. 1:9-14). This is why we want to continue to grow in our understanding of the gospel and its implications for every area of our lives. As the apostle Paul says in Colossians 1:28, we want to “proclaim [Christ], warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” This is our passion as a church and this is what our Discipleship Training is all about.
Each semester we will offer a variety of discipleship training opportunities for people to get involved in. Below is a list of what is available this fall.
Systematic Theology 1: God, Bible, Creation, Fall
Who is God and what is he like? Can I trust the Bible? Where did we come from? Why is the world so broken? Join us for a 6-week class that focuses on unpacking the Bible’s teaching on God, his word, humanity and sin. This class is taught by some of the elders and is held on Sunday mornings at the church from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM September 12th, 19th, 26th, October 3rd, 10th, 17th. This is a great class for any adults and teens who are interested in growing in their understanding and love for God and his word.
The 1st 5: Marriage Study
This fun and interactive study is for couples married 5 years or less. Couples will get to know other couples in their similar season of life as they learn and grow together about what God’s word says about marriage and how to build a marriage that lasts for the glory of God. This 8-week study will meet at the Stern’s house on Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM September 12th, 19th, October 3rd, 17th, November 7th, 14th, December 5th, 12th.
Join us this fall for a special weekend conference on marriage. We will have special guest speakers from Steeple Counseling come and teach us. Whether you’re early on in your marriage or have been married for decades, this conference will serve to enrich your marriage. The conference will take place at the church Friday evening, October 22nd and Saturday morning, October 23rd. Childcare for infants to age 4 is provided and can be selected during registration.
Kids GO! Conference
We believe pointing kids to the goodness of the gospel, both for themselves and others, is vitally important. That's why we're having a Kids GO! Conference for kids K-8th grade during the Marriage Conference October 22-23. (All kids are invited, even if parents are not attending the Marriage Conference). Through discussion groups and activities, we will explore three different missionaries that have impacted the world for Jesus Christ. This is an opportunity to ignite the hearts of our "next-generation kids" for the kingdom of God. Snacks and crafts are provided. The cost is $10 per child (paid at registration).
This class helps you get to know New Covenant Bible Church. In this class we share our history, vision, Statement of Faith, doctrine, defining values, ministry philosophy and structures. Attending the class doesn’t commit you to membership, but it’s a step toward it. The next two-part class is January 16 and 23 at 10:45 AM. To learn more, contact the Pastor for Mission and Equipping, Patrick Havens.
What do we believe about...?
In this new series “What do we believe about…?” the elders' first topic of study will be the ministry of deacons. In these two Sunday evening services, the elders will unpack the biblical, theological, and historical understanding of deacons and share their vision for the future of this ministry. Join us at the church Sunday evening September 26th and October 10th at 5:00 PM. (Registration not required.)
