God's Mission : Our Vision

God’s Mission : Our Vision
Our Theme for Fall 2012

Dear Church Family,

When you go to a restaurant that offers carryout, they'll ask you before you place your order, "Will this be for here, or to go?"

The gospel is both "for here" and "to go." The gospel is not just a message for non-Christians. It is the lifelong fuel of the Christian's life and sanctification. God wants our lives to be continually shaped, deepened, and transformed by the beauty and the power of the gospel. That's why we never tire of saying here at New Covenant, "You never move on from the gospel, only into a more profound understanding of it." The gospel is for here.

But when the gospel captivates our hearts, we cannot keep it to ourselves. The more we find our delight in the beauty and the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the more ardently we will long for all the nations of the world to experience that same joy and delight in our Lord Jesus Christ. When the worthy Lamb receives honor, glory, and praise from every tribe, tongue, and nation of the world, we will experience the consummation of our joy. So the gospel is to go.

Throughout the approaching fall season, as we read the New Testament together, we will be focusing on the theme of God's Mission: Our Vision. You will find an overview of this preaching series on Page 2 of the Life Together Newsletter.

The capstone of our worship together this fall will be the global Missions Conference, sponsored by New Covenant's GO Team, Friday, September 28-Sunday, September 30. Please mark your calendars to spend the weekend delighting in the gospel message, which is both for here and to go.

Let the nations be glad in God's glory!
